Making the right decisions becomes easier the more we define the ___values_______ we ___believe______ in.

Making the right decision becomes easier when we make the decision before the question is ___asked_______.

1.  We shouldn’t be embarrassed or ashamed of what we believe.

2.  We shouldn’t fear being alone.

The closer we stay to Jesus the more likely we will make the __right____ decision.

What tough decisions are you facing that your friends are not making the right decision in?

What to do when you make the wrong decision.

As soon as you make the __wrong__ decision, you get a chance to make the __right__ decision.

The first reaction is usually to _run_ and _hide_.

The reason we run is because of __fear__.   John 3:19-21

The correct decision to make, following a wrong decision is to _repent_.  Luke 15:11-32

The longer you wait to make the correct decision the less likely you are to make the right decision.

Is there some wrong decision you have made that you are still running from?

Is there a decision you are facing and are not sure what to do?

Is there someone you need to go and make things right with?

1)  Start with your name and the school you attend.

2)  What is your year in school?

3)  What is your favorite movie and why?

4)  If you had the choice of skittles or M&M’s, which would you choose?

5)  Paper or plastic?

6)  What was the last chapter of the Bible you read and when was that?

In order to make healthy decisions we must make them based upon

__facts________ and not on __emotions____.

The foundation of fact is __God_____.

“Who you are and what you are going to be is based upon the decisions you make today.”

 You and I are a product of our own decisions.  (Personal Responsibility)

What kind of person do you want to be?

What are you willing to do to be that kind of person?

In every decision you make you are choosing something and at the same time rejecting something.

   Have a bigger “yes”.

“Decisions base upon emotion bring regret, while decisions based upon fact bring reward.”

Steps to making a good decision.

1.  __Gather____ all the __facts_____.

2.  What does __God_______ say about the situation?

3.  What are your __thoughts___ about the situation?

4.  How do your thoughts line up with what God __says____?

5.  What are the possible ___outcomes____ of the decision?

Jesus wasn’t all that attractive, in his physical appearance.

                        Esau was extremely hairy

                        Jacob had very little hair

                        Elisha was bald

                        Paul possibly had poor eyesight

How can we trust the designer if we don’t value the design?

If you hate the way you look that bitterness will be directed towards God, hindering the greatest relationship you have available to you.

4 Steps to Self-Acceptance

1.) Detect any _ungratefulness_____ towards God.

            List out the changes you would make in your appearance,

                        abilities or family.

            Correct the correctables.

            List out the benefits for the things you cannot change.

2.)  __Thank____ God for the way he has ____made____ you.

            Identify how your unchangeable are building the message

                        of God in your life.  (2 Corinthians 12:9)

            Identify what you are thankful for in your appearance,

                        abilities and family.

3.) __Submit__ yourself to God, allowing Him to __create__ & grow inward beauty in you.

             Make the unchangables “marks of ownership” and “motivation for creating inward beauty.”

             Identify the qualities God wants in you.

Matt. 5:1-12, Galatians 5:22-24.

4.)  _Always__ allow God to use you to produce his character in others.

            Make your unchangeable motivation to be a servant to others.  Mark 10:43-45

 But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him.  The LORD does not look at the things man looks at.  Man looks at the outward appearance but the LORD looks at the heart.”  I Samuel 16:7

“Beauty and value doesn’t come from the mirror, other people or self.  True beauty and value comes from the creator.”

As you read Revelation 1, you get a different glimpse of Jesus than the description in the four gospels.  Just very briefly, here are the words that John uses to describe his Lord.

Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead and ruler over the kings of the earth. (v5)

He “loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood” (v5)

He “made us kings and priests to serve His God and Father…” (v6)

He is “the Alpha…Omega, the Beginning and the End…Who is and was and is to come, the Almighty.” (v8)

He has a loud voice, as of a trumpet. (v10)

He is “clothed with a garment down to His feet…girded about His chest with a golden band.” (v13)

His head and hair are white like wool, as white as snow.  His eyes like a flame of fire. (v14)

His feet are like fine brass, refined in a furnace, and His voice like the sound of many waters.  (v15)

Out of His mouth comes a two edged sword and His countenance is like the sun shining in its strength. (v16)

Read Ex. 19:16-20.  How does that compare to Rev 1:10?  Read Zech 3:1-5->  Does that relate to verse 13 of Revelation 1?    Read Dan 7:9-14.  How is this similar to Rev 1?  Where else has the words “two-edged” or “double edged sword” been used?  What might this description be telling us about the nature of the “Son of Man”?
